Robert Cha (차웅산) is a California-licensed American architect, artist, and author. His recent work demonstrates a symbiosis of human craft and thinking machines: AI.
Cha holds an M.Arch from Princeton University (Fellowship) and a B.Arch from SCI-Arc (Best Thesis). He has exhibited at the 11th Venice Architecture Biennale and published in Spots in Shots (2018) and the Architectural Design (AD) journal, Vol. 96.2 (Axiomatic Editions, 2026). His 2024 book, AI Sapien: Variations on Architecture and the Future (ORO Editions), won the A+D Museum Design Award and is held in over 60 premier institutional libraries worldwide, including The Getty Research Institute and multiple Ivy League collections.
He has led built projects from schematic design through construction administration, including Caltech's Center for Autonomous Systems and Technologies (CAST) in Pasadena. Cha practiced at Eric Owen Moss Architects, Jones, Partners: Architecture, Reiser + Umemoto, Hodgetts + Fung, Xefirotarch, and Stan Allen Architect.
